Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, has stated that no one will become president of the country without the support of Rivers, Kano, and Lagos states.
Wike insisted that Rivers State has a say in who becomes Nigeria’s next president.
He emphasized that whoever becomes Nigeria’s next president must obtain votes in Rivers, as well as Kano or Lagos States.
On Thursday, Wike delivered remarks at the grand finale of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government election campaign in Ulakwo, Etche Local Government Region of the state.
“I keep reminding the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that no state has given the party more votes than Rivers,” he added.
“And it is only in Rivers, and in the entire South-South, that the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not receive 25% of the vote in the 2019 General Election. We had to teach them a lesson.
“In Nigeria, nobody wins the presidency until they win both Rivers and Lagos, or Kano and Lagos.” Rivers is not a state to be trifled with. Rivers is not a state anybody can joke with. Some states went to negotiate with them. Rivers didn’t do it.”
