The Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has reiterated that the security of citizens’ lives and property remains a top priority for his administration as he solicits the support of relevant stakeholders to combat crime.

He praised the efforts of the state security outfits, the Amotekun corps, and other conventional security agencies in combating insecurity in the state, promising to continue to provide security agencies in the state with the necessary support to effectively fight crime and ensure a crime-free environment.

Akeredolu stated this at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka Akure, the state capital, when security awards of excellence and good governance awards were conferred on him by pro-democracy and human rights organisation, the Campaign for Democracy.

Represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, the governor said the establishment of the Amotekun Corps in January 2020 kick started the ‘zero tolerance’ to crimes in the South West region, disclosing that the fourth batch of Amotekun personnel was recently deployed across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State to further protect the lives and property of the people and reduce the crime rate in the state.

He said, “Without being immodest, this administration, since its inception, has never shied away from the monthly subventions given to all the security agencies in Ondo state. Operational vehicles kitted with modern security gadgets were also procured and distributed on a regular basis. Several hundred motorcycles were also procured and distributed across eighteen local government areas of the state to boost intelligence gathering.
