Bishop Matthew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, has challenged Northern Governors to resolve the religious uprising in the area.
Bishop Kukah believes it is unfair for Northern Governors to meet in Kaduna or Abuja to drink tea and take photos without adequately discussing the teething religious problems tearing the North apart.
He spoke at the commissioning of Sangere-Marghi Housing Estate, a settlement built by the Catholic Diocese of Yola to house internally displaced persons (IDPs) displaced by Boko Haram’s activities, yesterday in Yola.
He advised Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri that when he and his colleagues meet in Abuja or Kaduna, he should remind them to direct and lead the region’s religious leaders out of religious intolerance. “They should not just be dreaming about dialogue with Bishops, Imams, and Emirs sitting together and taking photos and enjoying tea like there is currently,” he says.
