Fayemi’s wife tasks Ekiti Women on self reliance

The wife of Ekiti State Governor, Mrs. Bisi Fayemi, has tasked women in Ekiti to seek means of livelihood to make them self-reliant and economically buoyant.

She also appealed to them to build self-esteem in order to earn respect and take leadership positions in the society.

Mrs Fayemi gave the charge on Monday during a programme organised by Ekiti women in Management positions in the Public Service, tagged, “A Day Out with First Lady and Award to outstanding women”, in Ado-Ekiti.

According to her, women are supposed to appear decently, look presentable and place a value on themselves by doing what is right at all times.

“Plan your time as a woman and build a good team around yourself. A woman must have at least a means of livelihood which should be taken seriously,” she added.

In her remarks, the Head of Service, Mrs. Peju Babafemi, noted that women should be given opportunities in management positions in every area of human endeavour.

“Visionary leadership is based on hard work and gender equity, so women must prove that they are not lazy by working hard to showcase themselves,” Babafemi stressed.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that dignitaries who graced the occasion included the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Alhaja Marian Ogunlade, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Folake Olomojobi, the Chairperson, National Association of Women Journalist in Ekiti state, Mrs Fatima Bello, among others.

They believed that such common front would help them to attain great positions anywhere they find themselves.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of Awards to four outstanding women in Ekiti state public service for their outstanding and excellent performances.

One of the awardees, Engr. Olabisi Agbeyo, appreciated the Head of Service for the recognition of women at management levels, saying that the forum has improved and increased capacity building in women to perform better in public service.

She said that the award was a call to service, promising that Ekiti women at management cadre would not relent on their Oasis, but to work harder.
