The Federal Executive Council approved the Presidential Economic Advisory Council’s National Poverty Reduction With Growth Strategy on Wednesday.
The decision was made during the council’s weekly meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, which was presided over by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, told State House correspondents after the meeting that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who chaired PEAC, will chair the steering committee to provide overall guidance for implementation.
Aside from approving the strategy’s implementation, Adesina stated that the FEC also approved its incorporation into the Medium Term National Development Plan 2021-2025 and Agenda 2050.
According to the presidential spokesman, the AttorneyGeneral of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has been directed to prepare a bill for submission to the National Assembly in order to make the strategy’s implementation sustainable.
