Ibadan-based radio station promotes unity through Markets Football Quiz

An Ibadan-based private radio station has commenced a programme ‘Markets Football Quiz’ toward forging togetherness amongst the people of the state, irrespective of tribe, cultural values and religious beliefs.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr. Babatunde Muraina, the Head of Station and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that Life Radio 107.5FM is one of the many newly-established private radio stations in the Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Muraina said that the programme is aimed at forging unity and harmonious relationship amongst the people through football, a unifying sport in Nigeria.

He explained that the competition is part of the station’s philosophy of adding value to the life of its audience and host community.

According to him, the 90-minute packaged Football quiz is for the benefit of the station’s football-loving listeners and the general public.

“The quiz programme is aimed at forging togetherness amongst the people of the state, irrespective of tribe, cultural values and religious beliefs as football is seen as a unifying sport in Nigeria,” he said.

Muraina added that the competition is geared toward creating a meeting point for all markets and traders in the city of Ibadan, and beyond.

He said that the effort is also to broaden their understanding of football.

“Representatives of participating markets are expected to be knowledgeable in football at the local, State, National and International levels, including league competitions across Europe.

“This will enhance the chances of market representatives in winning the competition,” he said.

Muraina said the competition which commenced on Nov. 30 between 12.30 p.m to 2.00 p. m would come to an end on Dec. 9.

He listed the participating markets to include Ogunpa Central; Sango Ojurin market; Gbagi Tuntun; Bodija Iso Pako; Temidire Market and Eleyele.

Others are Aleshinloye Market; Ogunpa Footwears; Gbagi Orisun Aje; Labaowo Ogunpa; Bodija Iso Foodstuffs; Shasha Market and Ifeleye Ogunpa.
