President Muhammadu Buhari has confirmed that he is taking a “short break” in London, United Kingdom, where he visited last week.
Buhari said this in a letter to Jordan’s Hashemite ruler, Abdullah ll Bin Al-Hussein, to express unity over a rift in the royal family.
Garba Shehu, the president’s spokesman, released the letter’s contents in a statement on Thursday.

“While taking a brief break here in London, I was deeply saddened to read from foreign news outlets about efforts to destabilize the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” Buhari wrote in the letter.

“Your exemplary leadership since ascending the throne has attracted worldwide admiration.”

“Relations between Nigeria and Jordan have been excellent and I thank you for the part you have played in this relationship.”

Buhari traveled to the United Kingdom on March 30 for a “routine medical check-up,” according to the presidency. He is scheduled to return to Nigeria in the second week of April. When he is gone, four big labor unions are on strike in defiance of the federal government’s refusal to meet their demands.
The presidential announcement came a day after the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) declared that they would be downing equipment to condemn low wages and working conditions.
The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics(ASUP) have all gone on strike.
