Kano State has ordered the resumption of Boarding Schools.

by Totori News

The Kano State government ordered on Sunday that students and pupils return to school on Monday, May 17th, as the Eid el-Fitri holiday has ended.

The directive did not apply to the 36 boarding schools that the government ordered closed on security grounds earlier this year.

Malam Muhammad Sanusi-Kiru, Commissioner for Education, said in a statement released by the ministry’s spokesperson, Mr Aliyu Yusuf, that defaulting pupils and students will be sanctioned.

Sanusi-Kiru went on to say that the ministry had made appropriate surveillance arrangements to ensure compliance.

He cautioned that the government would not stand by and watch as students and parents choose the most suitable day for their children to return to school.

“All boarding school students are to return to their schools on Sunday May 16, while Day schools students are to return to their schools on May 17,’’ the commissioner was quoted as saying.

“Government is committing lots of resources to facilitate good learning and teaching environment.

“There is, therefore, the need for a reciprocating gesture by parents and students to return to school on stipulated dates,’’ the commissioner stressed.
