Land Use Charge: Ondo govt seals 7 business premises

The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service(ODIRS) on Thursday sealed seven business premises over alleged defaulting in payment of Land Use Charge.

The state revenue agency said it was acting in compliance with court orders.

The Deputy Head of Legal Department of ODIRS, Gregory Afuwape, told newsmen that the affected companies were in Akure South and Idanre Local Government areas of the state.

“The owners are aware of the court order because every statutory notice were served on them and some of them have not paid their Land Use Charge since 2017,” he said.

He advised defaulters, who their business premises were locked, to visit the ODIRS headquarters in Akure to pay their taxes.

He reiterated that the affected properties would remain sealed until the payment of their liabilities.

“Anyone found to have opened the premises after it has been sealed will be arrested by our monitoring team and charged for contempt of court,” he warned.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the sealed companies include; shopping malls, filling stations and sawmills.
