Plateau killings: Governor Lalong declares 24-hour curfew in Jos North

Governor Simon Lalong has declared a 24-hour curfew in Jos North LGA of the state.

This came after an attack on a convoy of buses conveying some worshippers returning to Ondo after attending an Islamic program in Bauchi left 22 travelers dead and 14 others injured.

Though Governor Lalong had on Saturday, August 14 announced that Jos North, Jos South and Bassa LGAs will observe a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am, his Director of Press, Makut Macham added that the curfew in Jos North has been extended to 24 hours.

The statement read;

“From 2 p.m of today, Sunday 15th August 2021, a 24-hour curfew will come into effect in Jos North Local Government Area.

“This is necessitated by security reports, which indicate rising threats to the safety of lives and properties within the Local Government.”

22 travellers died along Rukuba road at the LGA on Saturday.
