The Southeast region’s five governors introduced Ebubeagu regional security on Sunday to fight terrorism in the region. Dave Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State and Chairman of the Southeast Governors Forum, revealed this to reporters at the Imo government house, along with other Southeast governors. According to him, the regional security will be the joint Vigilante from Southeast, with headquarters in Enugu state.
Following a surge of attacks on public institutions, especially police stations, in the South East region, the five governors of the zone moved to Owerri on Sunday to make firm decisions on the zone’s insecurity. Governors in attendance included Abia State’s Okezuo Ikpeazu, Anambra’s Willie Obiano, Enugu’s Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Ebonyi’s Dave Umahi, and the host state’s Hope Uzodimma. Professor George Obiozor, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, as well as top security chiefs in the region, sat alongside the Southeast governors.
