The UNICEF says it has trained 31 personnel for the conduct of assessment exercises on the implementation of the Girls for Girls (G4G) scheme under its girl’s education project across 270 schools in Adamawa.
Mr Mustapha Shehu, the Coordinator of the programme, disclose this on the sidelines of a one-day training exercise for enumerators and supervisors, on Monday in Yola.
He said that 28 enumerators and three supervisors were trained for the five-day assessment exercise to be conducted in Fufore, Guyuk and Hong Local Government Areas of the state.
“The exercise will be conducted in 270 schools where the project is being implemented,” he said, adding that 90 schools would be assessed in Guyuk, 125 in Fufore and 55 in Hong.
He said that the project was designed to enhance enrollment and retention of girl children in schools in the state.
“The G4G project also focuses on providing training on leadership skills, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and all other skills to support the girls to become powerful and have a strong voice in the community,” he said.
One of the participants, Mrs Lakson Kingsley, lauded the gesture, adding that they were exposed to data records using smartphones.
“The use of smartphones will ensure accuracy in data collection and analysis,” she said.
