In light of the deteriorating security situation in Kabul, the US State Department has ordered the withdrawal of diplomats from its embassy.
The order affects all embassy employees who are able to carry out their duties from another location, according to updated travel advice for Afghanistan.
The ministry did not say how many diplomats would leave and how many would remain in the Afghan capital.
On May 1, international troops will begin their formal withdrawal from Afghanistan.
US President Joe Biden has set a deadline of September 11 for the withdrawal to be completed.
